Miracles of Modern Science New York

Miracles of Modern Science are a string section in mutiny: guitars overboard! The Brooklyn, NY band squeezes together classical textures, disco kinetics, and explosive dynamics you might file under “post-rock” if their instruments weren’t decidedly pre-rock. ... more

Track Name: 524
once there had been frontier of silver
but it had all turned to change
a boy named John, a constant stranger
far from his home on the range

John found himself inside a city
where sunshine never pierced the night
he walked into a bar of bandits
each one looking for a fight

now our boy John was not a fighter
but he could whistle you to death
so in that bar John pursed his kissers
and this is how his whistling went

the whole town cheered for John's heroics
for killing off the bandit threat
for the first time in many ages
into the city sunlight crept

the mayor thanked, and John accepted
by taking the mayor's daughter's hand
but on the wedding day as he prepared to kiss the bride
a wind came blowing, made a tune right off his puckered lips, it went like this

John walked through the bodies of his new ghost town
there was not but a whisper for miles around
he went to the road, a stranger again
and he whistled a song that he knew as he went
