You made your wish
A day just like any other
No cards, no gifts
You say you don't need the clutter
You're not a little kid
So you don't need me to be your mother
If I believed that shit
I'd be one dense motherfucker
You tell you me you don't want to have a party
Even just a dinner with a couple friends
But every time you try to be a martyr
You're always disappointed when the evening ends
It's your birthday
So tell me what you want
In the worst way
Your mom, your dad
Said they didn't mean to forget you
A kid should have
One day a year to be special
To try to fix all that
What kind of gift could I ever get you?
The deck is stacked
I'm cracking under the p-p-p-p-pressure
To try to keep it modest
I absolutely promise not to overspend
But every time I try to keep the promise
You're always disappointed when the evening ends
It's your birthday
So tell me what you want
In the worst way
Okay, I lose
Have it your way
No surprises for you
No cake and no balloons
Happy nothing
Happy nothing
Every day is just like every other
20 million other people play pretend
But whose idea of fun is getting older?
Only makes you think about the way it ends

This was not what I expected! I thought this was a pop group (first time hearing this band) but I had to eat my hat because this band defies genre. The vocalist reminds me a little of kpop (and maybe 2010 Sleigh Bells if that makes sense), I happen to like both so thought that was cool. If you are a fan of complex piano layers and brass check this out! Also, the bassist and drummer are insane in here. I choked hearing one of the riffs it was that good! nvan92
